I sold Jeeps in the early 90s, the made these in 93 and 94. Drove a couple. It had the same manual and actual stick as the Cherokee had at that time,so easy to experience what it felt like. Only think I remeber was how much louder it was because of big hole cut in floor for lever. Oh and that color had previously been called black cherry. Not as bad sounding ad wilberry.

Pros of having the rear tire rack.
No one dares bump into your back… don’t even have a scratch on my bumper after 8 years of parking in NYC.
Had two blowouts and boy was it easy to change my tire. in fact didn’t have to worry about putting a temp donut and have to change again. it’s the same 5th tire.. voila
it has a nice shiny gold porsche crest on the center cap… classy and noticeable
makes my cayenne have some cohonas….haha

I bought both of your books and found them to be quite hilarious. I was even able to get my wife to read a couple stories from “Plays With Cars” which was quite an accomplishment, because they didn’t even feature fashion or basketball. Plus now she knows the dangers of Range Rovers.

I don’t think he had a Grand Cherokee 2 door, because that is something that really doesn’t exist. I think you mean the Cherokee 2 door.

I saw one of these on I-95 in Philly. The Saab looked silver to me, though it was dark and snowing at the time. The only other one I have ever seen was in Boston (Chestnut Hill, by Boston College).

A college room mate had (and still has) a ’94 5-speed manual Grand Cherokee with about 225k on it. I drove it a few times and it was definitely an experience, although I had no idea it was so uncommon – to the point of being considered a myth, apparently. It would make a great Regular Car Review video.
